Need a brand overhaul? Do these 3 quick branding adjustments
Does your branding look a little tired? Or maybe your marketing leads just aren’t what they used to be?
A few small adjustments with your branding can take your small business from “meh” to “marvelous.” While big changes will get you big results, small changes can lead to overnight improvements.
If it’s time to rethink how you’re marketing your small business, make these 3 small adjustments to clean up your branding—right now.
Step 1: Write brand guidelines
Consistency is the key to better branding. But it’s hard to be consistent if you’re using a different font, color palette, and writing style!
Make a short list of branding guidelines to keep your branding on point. This should include:
Brand colors. And be more specific than “orange.” Use the hex codes here so you always use the right shade of orange.
Fonts. What fonts do you use on your website? Blog? Emails? Specify which fonts you use, and when.
Word choice and grammar. Is your brand more formal or casual? Do you use the serial comma? Outline a few guidelines to help you stay consistent on your website, social media, or email outreach.
Step 2: Create a Canva template
Sick of creating graphics for your social media? Instead of whipping together a new graphic every single time, create some templates.
Try using Canva’s pre-made templates. Drop in your font, logo, and color palette to make it your own. Create templates for different occasions, like featuring your work, interviewing a client, or announcing a new product.
Step 3: Refresh your website copy
Take a look at your:
Home page. Is it immediately clear who you are and what you do?
Navigation. Can people easily find what they need on your site?
Landing pages. Are they easy to read? Is there a call to action?
Visuals and branding. Is everything on your site consistent with your brand as it is today?
Websites can be a mammoth task, so just focus on one thing at a time.
Branding requires deep work, but you can also improve it with a few small changes. If you have a free afternoon this week, try writing your brand guidelines, making templates, or refreshing your website. You never know where a few small tweaks will take you!
