The Top 3 Instagram Myths — BUSTED!

Ever felt confused by all the buzz you’ve heard to be successful on Instagram? Does figuring out that dang algorithm keep you up at night?

The truth is, IG success doesn’t have to take a whole lot of effort or time. Today we tapped into the expertise of Taylor Loren, Head of Content Marketing at Later. She’s shared with us her top 3 myths on Instagram and is busting them once and for all!

Myth #1: You need a ton of followers to be successful

Stop trying so hard to get insta-famous. Did you know that micro-influencers (10k - 100k followers) are actually in higher demand than influencers with millions of followers? And even nano-influencers (200+ followers) are now becoming the most influencial. Why? These are REAL people sharing their REAL life on Instagram and the content is more trustworthy because people see it as advice from a friend vs a sponsored ad. You’re able to have much more engagement when you have a smaller following. Once you stop thinking about the number of followers you have and start focusing on the number of people you’re actually engaged with — thats where the magic happens.

Myth #2: Your photos need to be professional quality

You don’t need an expensive camera, an instagram boyfriend, or photo editing skills to be successful on Instagram. Some of the biggest influencers use iPhone photos. Our phone cameras are so advanced now and there are a ton of apps that can help you create, edit and schedule your content. You don’t have to spend a ton of money and time. Here are some of our favorite apps for photo editing:

Myth #3: You have to be an on-camera personality

Yes, it’s great to show your face on stories but you don’t have to have a full face of makeup or an amazing outfit. In fact, a lot of people like to watch people who are real.

And if you’re not super comfortable being on camera, that’s ok too. There are lots of accounts that are driven by visuals or even copy. So, you don’t have to be front and center to have an instagram account that people love.
