As a business owner, you’re probably used to running a mile a minute. There are so many things going on in our businesses that it’s easy to overlook the big questions.

Why did you start your business in the first place? Are you operating according to your mission and values?

For me, Studio Brinks was always about more than helping small businesses—although that’s very important to me! I wanted to take things a step further by partnering with charities and nonprofits through my business.

That’s why Studio Brinks now partners with Tribe Alive, a sustainable fashion B Corporation. I’m not just in business for myself, and giving back through such an amazing organization helps me remember my life’s purpose beyond managing a business.

What is Tribe Alive?

Since 2014, Tribe Alive has empowered female garment workers with sustainable, safe, and high-paying jobs. The brand hires these artisans to create fashionable clothes and accessories in an eco-friendly way.

85% of the world’s garment workers are women, but in countries like Guatemala, Haiti, Honduras, and Peru, these workers are often trapped in a cycle of low wages and poverty.

Carly Burson founded Tribe Alive to solve systemic poverty around the world. By tapping into her experience in the fashion industry, Carly and Tribe Alive eliminate insecurity and help artisan communities thrive.

What started with 8 women six years ago has ballooned into a network of over 280 artisans around the world. Today, Tribe Alive:

  • Pays Fair Trade wages: These wages are 2-3 times the minimum wage in each of Tribe Alive’s locations.

  • Provides safe work conditions: Garment workers typically work 15-hour days for very low pay, in substandard conditions. Tribe Alive personally visits every location to ensure safety and a reasonable 6-8 hour workday.

  • Designs quality, eco-friendly fashion: Fast fashion leads to millions of tons of waste in our landfills. Tribe Alive hires artisans who build for quality, minimizing the need for fast fashion. They also use no toxic chemicals in manufacturing, use organic or upcycled materials, and ship in biodegradable packaging.

High-paying work empowers women and respects their contributions. I’m honored to partner with Tribe Alive’s mission to make the world a better place, starting with dignity and fair pay.

Partnering with Tribe Alive

As a female business owner myself, I know how powerful it is when we give women the tools to succeed. I’m excited and proud to support a cause that gives a hopeful alternative to more and more women across the globe.

That’s why Studio Brinks offers a business referral program that supports Tribe Alive. For every business referral we get, we give Tribe Alive’s cult-favorite leather wallet clutch to clients who refer us. Oh, and it’s embossed with the Studio Brinks logo, of course!

So, if you know someone who needs help with their branding, refer them to Studio Brinks to score a Tribe Alive goodie. It’s our thanks to you for “coming in clutch” for Studio Brinks while supporting a great cause.

75% of the global workforce is female. When we empower women with fair wages, they invest those wages back into the community and their family. It’s no exaggeration to say Tribe Alive can eradicate generational poverty—and we’re proud to support such a wonderful organization.
